PHILADELPHIA--The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers and School District of Philadelphia are thrilled to jointly announce the settlement of a Tentative Agreement (TA) to a one-year contract extension to the existing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). 

The Tentative Agreement is a milestone for both the Union and the District, and it represents a significant investment in the dedicated educators and support staff that, with care and expertise, help shape future generations. Superintendent Dr. Tony Watlington and PFT President Jerry Jordan have both expressed their shared goal of not just saying they value educators--but showing them.

Once again, we mourn in the aftermath of the ongoing devastation of gun violence.

In our beloved city, we mourn the killing of Bernard N. Gribbin, a SEPTA driver, whose life was stolen from him while he was doing his job. Our condolences and thoughts are with all who knew and loved him, and with the entire Transport Workers Union Local 234 community.

Further, we are horrified by another devastating mass shooting, this time in Maine. Our hearts are with all who are impacted by a tragedy that should be unspeakable but is, in fact, far too common.

The long-lasting impact of COVID-19 has affected our students’ and families’ well-being and ignited the politics surrounding public schools. Following Dr. Tony B. Watlington's announcement that the School District of Philadelphia will end its practice of leveling, PFT President Jerry T. Jordan issued the following statement:
