Philadelphia Federation of Teachers Slams Yass Effort to Buy Midterm Election
PHILADELPHIA (October 23, 2026) – The Philadelphia Federation of Teachers (PFT Local 3) on Friday slammed billionaire Jeffrey Yass for trying to buy the midterm elections. Specifically, mandatory campaign finance filings reveal that Yass’ money comprises nearly all of Bucks County Senator Frank Farry’s total fundraising – raising alarming questions about to whom Farry considers himself accountable.
“Frank Farry represents 254,698 constituents in Bucks County, but is running a campaign that is 70 percent funded by one MAGA billionaire who backs election deniers. Jeffrey Yass is not shy about his agenda: elections only count when they go his way; destroy public education to expand profits for private and charter school operators; and break up unions to force workers into total submission to employers,” PFT President Arthur G. Steinberg said.
“Frank Farry has demonstrated through his votes that he serves the ultra-wealthy, not the people. Pennsylvania has the lowest minimum wage in the region and skyrocketing gas and housing costs because of Jeff Yass’ stranglehold on Pennsylvania Republicans like Frank Farry,” President Steinberg continued.
“Voters in Bucks County and across the country are awake to the fact that America can have oligarchy, or elected democracy, but not both,” President Steinberg said. “The PFT encourages voters in the 6th Senate District to elect Eileen Hartnett Albillar, our endorsed candidate. Eileen will work to deliver resources to public schools and to public school families, including by raising the minimum wage and working to lower utility and housing costs. Bucks County voters deserve leadership of and by the people – not MAGA billionaires.”
